Wallonia’s top city for tourists

Known as the “Ardent City”, Liège is the leading tourist city in Wallonia. The latter mainly owes its success to a rich history and exceptional cultural and architectural heritage.

Stroll around the city center of Liège, a real open-air museum!

You will discover its innumerable religious buildings, including Saint Paul’s Cathedral, the Collegiate Church of St. Bartholomew, the Basilica of Cointe, or the churches of St. Andrew, St. James, and St. Vincent.

Walking around the historic center of the city is another way to learn about its past. This district is, without a doubt, one of the most marked by history, with its palace of the Princes-Bishops, its Place Saint-Lambert, its town hall, its famous Perron, its Hors-Château district, or its many alleys and dead-ends.

Although the past is still present in Liège, modernity is also evident

The Guillemins district certainly best represents this modernity.  Impressive infrastructure designed by world-renowned architects has sprung up in recent years. You can marvel at the TGV station by Santiago Calatrava, its Tour des Finances, or the Center of Design. The Cité Miroir and Médiacité, one of Liège's largest shopping centers, also bears witness to this new architecture.

Museum and culture lovers will be at home here

There are myriad offerings in this area: the Museum of Walloon Life, which offers an original look at Wallonia from the 19th century to the present day, the Aquarium-Museum, which will allow you to discover hundreds of different marine species, or the La Boverie Museum, which is located in the superb setting of La Boverie Park and offers several exhibitions of international quality.

Liège also represents a most enticing offer from a cultural point of view, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, Liège Theater, and the Royal Opera of Wallonia, the modern architecture of which will not fail to amaze you.

Don’t miss the many parks and green spaces in Liège

True havens of peace, the paths of Coteaux de la Citadelle, which are located a few steps from the center of Liège and the Bueren mountain, welcome you for a superb stroll or a moment of relaxation.

The city has many pleasant green spaces, such as La Boverie Park, Avroy Park, or the botanical garden.
