Family of Man
Big names in photography – What do men have in common?
Regularly mentioned as one of the most successful photographic exhibitions, as well as one that inspires the most enthusiasm, “The family of man” is permanently installed in the superb setting of Clervaux Castle in the north of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Assembled by Edward Steichen for the MoMA in New York in 1955, and part of the UNESCO World Heritage, this collection, which has been installed in this venue since 1994, comprises 503 photographs from 273 artists from 68 countries.
This exhibition is a manifesto for peace and fundamental equality through post-war humanist photography. The images, which come from artists such as Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorothea Lange, and Robert Doisneau, as well as August Sander and Ansel Adams, are presented in a modernist and spectacular way.
